The first ever Irish Free Comics Day will be taking place on Saturday October 18th, organised by Rob Curley and involving most of Ireland's Comic Book stores throughout the Republic and Northern Ireland.. The aim of the event is to push the Irish small press scene and so to be included at least 51% of the comic should be Irish! There are quite a few comic shops taking part, and you must be able to provide at least 40 comics for every shop you want your comic to be given away in.
Don't fret if your comic isn't 51% Irish, you can still take part in the Irish 24 hour comics day, held on the same weekend from 12pm October 18th to 12pm October 19th. A chance to lock yourself in a room with strangers for 24 hours and draw comics! Its free to take part and all skill levels are welcome.
There is also a Small Press table running from 11am Saturday morning until 8pm Saturday evening. This is open to all those Small Pressers who aren't able to take part in the Irish Free Comics Day to sell their comics at the event (this means you!).
For more info on the Irish 24 hour comics day check out the event website or email

Jas Wilson will be at the Borders store in the Birmingham Bull Ring next Saturday (23rd August) between 12-3pm signing your copies of Smuggling Vacation. We'll be getting a review up pretty soon but it looks like a fantastic publication, so get yourselves down there and offer your support!
Local MP Khalid Mahmood, wasn't quite as forward in offering his support for the comic. Mr Mahmood suggests that publishing this comic will increase the criminal knowledge of inmates and is a highly dangerous peice of work! I'm sure you'll all join me in a loud "lol" at this information.
If nothing else, this will give some more publicity to Jas and his smuggling vacation comic, and again I urge you to show you're support, especially in the face of such governmental nonsense!!

Thomas Cochrane Assosiates are now accepting pre-orders for the late November release of The Fat Man. The graphic novel does looks really good, and you can check out a free 50 page preview of this massive 350 page full colour publication before you buy. All profits are going to Scottish mental health arts charity, The Twisty-Headed Man Company (Charity number SC021585).
Responsible for the death of millions, the mysterious `Tegel Project' threatens the very core of civilisation.
Betrayed by MI5, the Fat Man finds himself caught between the blazing guns of would-be assassins and the blood-red lips of silent movie star Louise Brooks. Unable to trust anyone and faced with a series of unpalatable choices, he careers madly along the arch of time on the seemingly impossible mission of keeping himself and his lover alive.
